12:05 pm to 12:30 pm - The Work Ahead: Mastering Our Digital Future & Answering the Question “What to Do When Machines Do Everything?” - Robert H. Brown, Associate Vice President, Cognizant Center for the Future of Work Click for description

At the heart of our lives – and that of our families and friends (and soon to be, our children) – is work. This is the foundation of commerce, and much of modern society—and it has never changed faster because of digital transformation. Fear about the future of work is higher than it’s been since the Great Depression in the 1930s. In an age of automation, algorithms and AI, many need answers to the question: “What do I do when machines do everything”? To get from “here” to “there”, the work that we do in 2020 (and 2025) will change – in profound ways – creating unprecedented change, opportunity, and threat. YOUR work ahead – your ticket to the new digital economy— is to connect “new” technological innovation to “old” work and work-processes, and how to get ahead in a digital world of algorithms, "things", "bots" and big data.

Session 1: Financial Services: Information Sharing and the Rise of Financial Services Eco-systems – Are you In (or are you out)?

Speakers: Aite Group, Stewart Title, Cognizant Technology Solutions; CIT
Moderator: Laura Crozier, Global Industry Leader, Software AG
(Recommended for Banking, Securities and Insurance Industries)

Some call it the API economy. Some called it Hyper-Connectivity. In banking, it's known as Open Bank. Even if there isn't agreement on a name, most agree that sharing data with an eco-system of trusted partners is the future of Financial Services. Financial service providers are now asking themselves tough questions: How will I digitally transform (and scale) an IT architecture that is designed to secure (not share) data? How will the eco-system change my relationship with my customers? What do I want my bank's role to be in the ecosystem? In this session, attendees will hear about new and changing business models being used to address these challenges.

Session 2: Connected Manufacturing: Driving IoT into Products, Factories and Supply Chains

Speaker: Arc Advisory, Neovia Logistics, HCL, Southwest Airlines
Moderator: Sean Riley, Global Industry Leader, Manufacturing & Transportation, Software AG
(Recommended for Manufacturing & Transportation Industries)

What is Connected Manufacturing and what role does IoT play? Is it reimagining the products manufacturers sell and driving usage-based business models? Is it monitoring the production line that is driving improved machine reliability and product quality? Or is it streamlining the supply chain that keeps factories running smoothly with reduced inventory? For many IoT plays a role in all of these examples. This session will cover the debate over the role of IoT and take a look at real world examples of this trend that is transforming the industry.

Speaker: John Rossman, Tata Consultancy Services, RSR Research and W.W. Grainger
Moderator: Oliver Guy, Global Industry Leader, Retail, Software AG
(Recommended for Retail & Communications Industries)

Amazon and other digital pioneers pose a huge threat to B2C industries. Customers are embracing digitally-driven channels for everything from buying a pair of jeans to watching a movie to ordering a pizza. How will 'traditional' B2C companies survive? Simple. Abandon "tradition". In this session, hear from B2C innovative firms and see how they are responding to this challenge.

Session 4: Renewables, Pro-sumers and Chaos on the Grid: Why the Digital Utility is Needed Now More Than Ever.

Speaker: Duke Energy, Enera
Moderator: Bart Schouw, Global Industry Leader, Software AG
(Recommended for Energy & Natural Resources, and Utilities Industries)

Renewables introduce unpredictability into power generation, not to mention opportunities for new start-ups. As solar panels and improved battery technology become more widely available, even so called 'Prosumer' households are introducing increased variability into supply & demand. Utilities are faced with growing challenges when dispatching generation requirements, and utilities and regulators alike are looking for technologies and policies to help manage supply & demand risk. And that is just one of the many issues the energy market faces…welcome to the world of the digital utility. In this session, attendees will learn how energy and utility companies can transform and manage this challenge and even benefit from the opportunities it presents.

Test Drive #1: API Management

Are you searching for an API Management tool that brings together deployment, security, publishing and monitoring of your APIs and services?   Do you need a complete end-to-end API management platform that you can use to support internal and external developers, reach new customers and partners, find new sources of revenue all while leveraging your development community?  If so, we invite you to come and experience it for yourself by attending Software AG’s API Management Test Drive.

Back by popular demand, this four hour hands-on learning session gives you the opportunity to get behind the wheel and discover how Software AG’s API Management solution (featuring the webMethod’s API Gateway) helps you easily manage your organization’s API environment.

Led by head of Software AG’s API Management Practice Director for Global Consulting Services, Saify Lanewala, this session will give you an opportunity define APIs in API Gateway, create Virtual APIs, view and use the API Portal as a Provider, a Consumer and even as an Administrator.  You’ll also see how easy it is to customize the portal and make it your own.

How can you get the best experience out of the Test Drive?  Come prepared with a basic understanding of Services, SOA and REST APIs.  This session sold out last year so don’t delay.  Register today for the Innovation Tour and your seat behind the wheel at the API Management Test Drive.

Test Drive #2: Dynamic Apps (featuring Agile Apps)

During the Test Drive, Hugues will explain and demo the Terracotta API.  He’ll show you how caching and in-memory data storage can be implemented to significantly improve the performance of your solution or simply for clustering as well as how large documents can be processed more efficiently.  He’ll then give you a chance to get behind the wheel and experience it for yourself.

And for those of you thinking of migrating your messaging services from Broker to Universal Messaging, Hugues will help you to experience how well Universal Messaging works with Integration Server (either with native messaging or JMS ), Clustering Options (Active/Active vs Active/Passive) and the concepts of Interest propagation with Zones (Clustering with sites (Active/Passive).

While the Test Drive isn’t designed to cover everything, the time spent learning and driving these products will provide you with more insight on the benefits of using these technologies and prepare you to make an informative decision how best to move forward.

To gain the highest value from the Test Drive, Hugues recommends that you come prepared to learn by asking lots of questions, sharing personal experiences and making sure you have extensive webMethods development experience along with an understanding of JMS and messaging, in addition to java programming skills.    This will prepare you to hop in the driver’s seat and take the technology for a spin.
