Software AG UK Innovation Tour 2018
2018’s Innovation Tour was a far reaching journey touching places as far flung as Sydney and Singapore before touching down in London. And what an exciting stops that was! The day in London started with a Welcome from Bo Gyldenvang, VP of Sales for the UK and Nordics, who then introduced our new CEO Sanjay Brahmawar on the stage for the morning’s first Keynote. Sanjay shared his perspective on how data can drive digitisation, giving examples of several customers around the globe who are using Software AG technology to achieve their digital goals. Sanjay subsequently introduced two of our customers to share the stage with him: Col. Chopsey Cornell from the British Army and Dr. Fahad Aijaz from Vodafone IoT.
Both The British Army and Vodafone use a combination of our products to enable their digital businesses to drive more value, but in very different ways. The British Army have employed an API Gateway to provide access to regular troops, reservists, veterans and the injured service men and woman to their personnel information from their own device, while complying with the Ministry of Defence’s security protocol. This is changes the lives of the people who depend most on The Army, to ensure they are paid correctly. It also saves the tax-payer funded Army several millions of pounds per year. Vodafone have used ARIS to plan their digital business processes for several years now and are a true leader in their field.
Later on the main stage, we heard from Jennifer Thomson who’s a Research Director at IDC, focusing on DevOps. Jennifer shared her perspective on how an agile culture is important not only when developing technology, but also is the key to a business as a whole during a transformation process.
In the afternoon we had presentations from customers including Vodafone, Wales and West Utilities, The British Army and Metro Bank along with our partners Cognizant, Wipro and United Vanning. We then concluded the day with our customer and partner awards to celebrate the most innovative uses of Software AG technology employed in the UK today.
Overall, the event was a great success, with a revamped agenda focused on industry rather than product – putting the customer at the heart of the day. The feedback from both customers and partners of the new format was very good and we look forward to continuing the conversation with all those that joined us on the day.
